Not only health, but also sustainability
Water is essential for our lives, but how much do we really know about its safety and filtration? In an exclusive interview, Luca Lucentini, director of the National Center for Water Safety, addressed crucial questions about the best choice for our health and debunked some common myths.
Bottled water vs. tap water
One of the most common dilemmas concerns choosing between bottled water and tap water. According to the expert, “All drinking water, whether tap or bottled, is controlled and can be drunk safely.” There are no contraindications unless the doctor prescribes specific recommendations in case of particular diseases.
In Italy, investment in the water network is lower than in other European nations. However, Lucentini disproved an entrenched myth: the idea that calcium-rich waters can cause kidney stones is incorrect. Kidney stone formation is related to the metabolism of oxalates from food, not water. In fact, calcium and magnesium richness, which determines “water hardness” can reduce cardiovascular risk, the leading cause of death in Europe.
Natural mineral waters vs. potable waters
Natural mineral waters must be extracted from protected deep sources, ensuring chemical stability. In the glass, the water must retain its distinctive characteristics. Potable waters, on the other hand, can vary in composition because the sources are different, sometimes superficial, our expert explains.
Blupura: sustainable solutions for people’s health and the environment
The question arises: is it then possible to guarantee 100% pure water? Connected directly to the water mains, Blupura water coolers are designed with “hygiene technologies” i.e. protection and sterilization solutions placed both inside and at the last point of dispensing, aimed at eliminating any microorganism (bacteria, viruses, mold, algae, etc.), ensuring deep, thorough and complete sanitization of the dispenser and consequently microbiologically pure water.
Choosing a dispensing system also has environmental benefits: opting for a water cooler means reducing the costs (production, transportation, disposal) and the environmental impact associated with bottled water, including CO2 emissions and the use of non-biodegradable single-use plastic containers.
Blupura’s goal is to offer more and more sustainable solutions that guarantee safety for people and the environment.
